Newport, Fla.-The pandemic almost ended Michelle Palisi’s 40 years of chocolate business.
“It’s like tickling me,” Palissy said. “This is what I thought I was doing. Suddenly, in December, people flocked to it.”
They exploded on social media this winter. You put a “bomb” made of a mixture of chocolate, marshmallow and hot chocolate into hot milk to make delicious hot cocoa. Pictures and videos are circulating online, and people make bombs or use bombs.
So Palsi began to adapt them to meet sudden demands. She made more than 1,500 in just three weeks and has no plan to stop.
“This is amazing. People keep coming in. To the point where I have to line up. I have never been on a waiting list before, but I have to.
She made all kinds of things. Put the “bomb” into hot milk or water and explode into hot chocolate. This winter, they shined on social media. Michelle has a waiting list for the first time ever! @BN9 pic.twitter.com/EjiICC0lEu
She has experienced one of the worst years in her business for nearly 40 years. She even turned to catering services to help get her employees hired before the hot chocolate bomb.
“It’s really an amazing journey. Suddenly there is no business for 9 months and I have to do it.” Palisi said.
She thinks they are “full” online because people are more at home and they are looking for a fun way to spend time with their families.
